NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found it to be misleading.
We extracted keyframes of the video and put them through Reverse Image Search. The search led us to a tweet by journalist Sreyashi Dey.
In her tweet, she explained that cops were using smoke bombs to disperse the crowd as barricades, that were set up to prevent forward march of protesters, were breached and stones were hurled at the Police.
“Since this video is running on news channels, that’s my Cameraperson & I reporting live from Howrah Maidan today, what is seen in the video is cops using smoke bombs to disperse the crowd as barricades were breached and stones were hurled. We were airing live visuals, ” she tweeted.

“While reporting, first barricades were broken, then stones were hurled, police fired tear gas shells followed by water canon & batons used to disperse the crowd. A gun was seized from the location and crude bombs were also hurled, ” Sreyashi added.
Moreover, we also found a tweet by Howrah City Police clarifying that the police were throwing Tear Smoke Munitions in Howrah after barricades were breached.

We also found several reports about police using tear gas and lathicharge to control  BJP protesters in Kolkata.

Hence, based on the above information, it is clear that the post in question is misleading.
