In the midst of the ongoing protest in JNU over hostel fees price hike, several posts are being shared online targeting protesting students.
In one such post, a picture of a man is being shared with a claim that he is Moinuddin from Kerala and he took admission in JNU in 1989 and is still there.
“ये हैं केरल के मोइनुद्दीन. इन्होंने JNU में 1989 में प्रवेश पाया.
मान के चलते हैं कि B.A. में एड्मिशन लिया होगा फिर B.A./MA/M Phil/ Ph.D किया होगा तो उसकी पढ़ाई के 12 वर्ष हुए . मतलब कि 2001 तक JNU से निकल के काम धन्धा कर लेना चाहिए था….”the text read.

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found that all personal facts about the man are false.
While scrolling through the comments on the post, we found a comment on Twitter, where the man in the viral picture was identified as Pankaj Mishra.
Further investigation led us to the Twitter account of Pankaj Mishra. His Twitter description read “JNU- M.Phil- Social Medicine & Community Health, Social Activist and Public Health Professional- expertise in Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition.”
While talking to NewsMobile, Pankaj confirmed that the viral picture is his. Rubbishing the other fact, he said that he was born on March 8, 1989, and he belongs to Allahabad (now Prayagraj), Uttar Pradesh.
Pankaj is currently pursuing M.Phil in Social Medicine and Community Health from JNU where he took admission in 2019. Earlier, he was a professional in the public health sector.
