A video of healthcare workers in a celebratory mood is being shared on social media with a claim that the video is from Russia and they are celebrating the ‘invention’ of COVID-19 vaccine.
The text attached to the video read, “Yes Covid-19 vaccine invented. Thank you Russia”
The caption of the post implies that the video was taken following the invention of the vaccine in Russia.

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the post to be misleading.
We extracted the keyframes of the video and put them through Reverse Image Search. The search led us to a report by Saudi24 News published on August 11, featuring the same video.
“The director of the General Hospital of King Saud Medical City, Dr. Khaled Al-Dahmashi, published a video clip of the joy of the medical and nursing staff in closing the isolation wards designated for cases of infection with the emerging coronavirus, ” the report stated.
The report also contained the link to the tweet.

This proves that the video in question is from Saudi and not Russia.
Moreover, we also ran a keyword search and found media reports dated August 11, 2020, stating that President Vladimir Putin had announced that Russian made coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V has been rolled out and approved for use. The reports can be seen here and here.
From the above information, it is clear that the date of the video and the announcement is the same and hence, it can easily be passed off as Russia.
However, the video is from Saudi and hence, the posts are misleading.
