Fact Check: This trending video is NOT from the 2020 Bihar elections; here's the truth

A video is being shared on social media with a claim that it was recently filmed in Bihar during the ongoing election campaign. In the video, a BJP leader can be seen being greeted with a garland of shoes.
“बिहार विधनसभा चुनाव की प्रचार में बीजेपी का रुझान आना शुरु हो गया है” the post read.

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found it to be old and misleading.
We extracted keyframes from the video and put them through Reverse Image Search. The search led us to the same video, uploaded by News Tak on January 7, 2018.

“एमपी में बीजेपी नेता को सरेआम पहना दी जूतों की माला | BIG STORY | News Tak,” the video was titled.  (Translation: Locals put a garland of shoes on BJP candidate in Madhya Pradesh)
The same video was also uploaded by newswire ANI on January 7, 2018.

According to the report, the incident came to light from Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district and the man in the video is BJP leader Dinesh Sharma.
We also found a report by NDTV dated January 8, 2018, regarding the same incident.

From the above information, it is clear that the incident is old and has no relation to Bihar election campaign in the run up to the crucial assembly polls. Hence, the post in question is false.
