A graphic with a picture of a fire and text in Bengali is being shared on social media implying that the picture in the graphic is from West Bengal, India.

Here’s the link to the above post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false and misleading.
Firstly, we cropped the viral picture and ran it thorough Reverse Image Search.
We found that the same image was uploaded on a photo stock website – Dreamstime with the caption: Accident at a steel mill. Production process in the steel mill.

The same picture was also uploaded on different photo stock websites by a Ukrainian photographer along with several other pictures from the same location in 2017. The picture tags also read Ukraine.

This proves that the above picture is NOT from India.
Moreover, we also searched for reports of blast at Sujapur and Naihati.
We found a report from January 2020, published in TOI with the headline: Naihati blast: Firecrackers go off while being defused in West Bengal.

A similar report of the blast was also published in Financial Express.
However, we did find a recent report, published on November 20, 2020, by NDTV about the blast in Sujapur area. “6 Killed In Blast At Plastic Factory In West Bengal’s Malda, ” the headline read.

Hence, from the above fact check, it is clear that the post in circulation is misleading and is being wrongly quoted in the present context.
