Following the massive floods in Assam, a picture of a woman with a kid has surfaced on the internet in which she can be seen stuck with a kid on the roof of a hut which is submerged in the floodwater.
It is being claimed that the picture is recent, targeting a section of media for focusing on Amitabh Bachchan’s hospitalisation due to COVID-19 and ignoring the flooding in Assam.
The text in Hindi read: “इस देश की गोदी मीडिया एक अमिताभ बच्चन कोरोना होने पर पूरे एक हफ़्ते तक ख़बर चलाते हैं लेकिन एक भी ख़बर बाढ़ से बरबाद होते असम के लिए नहीं”
(Translation: “The media of this country runs the news item for an entire week about Amitabh Bachchan having coronavirus but not a single news about Assam being devastated by floods”)

On putting the picture through Reverse Image Search, we found the same picture in a report dated July 12, 2019, by Indian Express.
According to the report, it was a PTI picture taken in 2019 in Assam.
Hence, in conclusion, it is safe to say that the picture is old.
