A picture of Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan with a man is being shared on social media with a claim that he is underworld don, Dawood Ibrahim.
“जाने, गद्दार पिग बी की बीबी क्यों बौखलाई ? रिश्ते में तो हम तुम्हारे बाप होते हैं, पर मैं आपका गुलाम हूँ..! दाऊद इब्राहिम और अमिताभ बच्चन की पुरानी तस्वीर अब रिलीज हो गई है, तभी जया बच्चन बॉलीवुड ड्रग्स कनेक्शन पर तिलमिला गई है.! Shame on Amitabh Bachhan.!” the post claimed.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.
We put the picture through Google Reverse Image Search and found a report by The Times of India dated 2010. A video from the channel Times Now was also found.
“We are against Bachchan’s association with Modi: Cong”, the title of the video read.

Taking a cue from the above, we ran a keyword search and found a picture similar to the one in the TOI report. “Bollywood Actor Amitabh Bachchan with Ashok Chavan Chief Minister of Maharashtra in Mumbai Maharashtra India”, the picture caption read.

Based on the above information, we ran another Reverse Image Search along with the relevant keywords and found the same picture on the TOI website dated March 25, 2010.

“Ashok Chavan with Amitabh Bachchan at commissioning ceremony of Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link. (PTI Photo),” the photo caption read.

From the above fact-check, it is clear that the man in the pictures with Amitabh Bachchan is not underworld don Dawood Ibrahim but Congress leader Ashok Chavan. And hence, the viral post is misleading and false.
