FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the claim and found it to be false and misleading.
Firstly, we checked the Twitter handle of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and found a tweet dated November 20, 2020, stating that markets have not been closed by the government.
“Met representatives of mkt associations. I removed their anxieties – govt does not wish to shut any market. They assured anyone not wearing a mask in the mkt will be provided free by mkt assn. All shops will also be asked to keep spare masks and hand sanitisers, ” the tweet read.

Upon searching further, we also found a news report by Hindustan Times dated November 21, 2020, stating that traders and shopkeepers are taking all safety precautions and measures to avoid facing a lockdown situation.

More report on the same can be seen here and here.
On November 16, 2020, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain also said that no lockdown is being re-imposed in Delhi as the third wave of COVID-19 is believed to have passed.

Moreover, while searching, we also come across an article by CN24 News Hindi dated November 17, 2020, where they have speculated that markets in Delhi could be closed to curb the increasing number of COVID-19 cases.

However, it should be noted that this article was just ‘speculating’ the option and did not state that a lockdown has been imposed.
Hence, from the above information, it is clear that the post available on social media is misleading and false.
Editor’s note: This report was filed on November 22, 2020. Till then, no announcement regarding lockdown in Delhi was made. The article will be updated in case of any new changes.
