Fact Check: Has Pakistani 'Cricket Chacha' Sufi Abdul Jalil passed away? Here's the truth

A picture of Sufi Abdul Jalil alias famous Pakistani ‘Chacha Cricket‘ is making rounds all over social media with a claim that he has passed away recently.
The Facebook post read, “Pakistani famous Cricket Chacha is no more with us. May Allah Raise his Ranks in Jannah (Ameen).”

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found it to be false and misleading.
We ran a keyword search and found a news report on the Daily Times dated November 19, 2020, claiming that in a video ‘Chacha Cricket‘ said that he is ‘alive and well’ after his death rumours went viral on social media.

Other media organizations like Geo Super TV, CricTrancker, Inshorts, The Express Tribune and Geo News also reported that ‘Chacha Cricket‘ is alive.
We then searched and found a video on  Facebook dated November 18, 2020, where Sufi Abdul Jalil clarified that the news about his death is fake.
The Facebook post read, “Fake news about the death of ‘Chacha’ Pakistani. Cricket fan.”

The same video was also tweeted on November 18, 2020, where appealed people to avoid sharing fake news about his death.


Hence, with the help of the above information, it is clear that the death rumours about Chacha Cricket’s death are fake. Don’t fall for false and misleading claims.
