A picture of a drone is being shared on social media with a claim that the Nepal army shot down an Indian spying quadcopter near the India-Nepal border.

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post and found the claim to be false.
On putting the image through Reverse Image Search, we found the same picture in an article published by the Scroll in 2017. “Indian spy drone shot down along Line of Control, claims Pakistan Army, ” the headline read.
A similar article, published by the Dawn in October 2017, also carried a tweet by the official Twitter handle of the Pakistani Army featuring the same image.
“Indian quadcopter spying across LOC in Rakhchikri sector shot down by Pak Army shooters. Wreckage held, ” they tweeted.

NewsMobile couldn’t verify the authenticity of the above news but from our investigation, it is clear that the picture in circulation is old and has no connection with Nepal.
