NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found it to be fake.
First, we Google searched the claims but couldn’t find any information about the central government decision on cancellation of newspaper titles. Also, there is no information supporting the claim that the government removed hundreds of newspapers from DAVP list.
Further, we also checked on the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity site but couldn’t find any information about it.
However, we found a post by PIB on Twitter dated November 20, 2020, claiming that no such decision has been taken by the central government and the social media posts and news articles are fake.
