NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found it to be old and misleading.
With the help of keywords search, ‘Shiv Sena head shaved’, we found that the incident took place in 2019. We found the same video on NDTV dated December 24, 2019, claiming that a man was thrashed and his head was allegedly shaved by Shiv Sena members over a social media post on Uddhav Thackeray.
Another news article on India Today dated December 25, 2019, also published that Shiv Sena workers thrashed and tonsured a man’s head over a derogatory comment against Uddhav Thackeray.
Further, we found another news report on YouTube uploaded by Republic World on December 24, 2019, showing the same video of a man being thrashed.
Moreover, reports carried by other news organization including Mumbai Live, TV 9 Gujrati, Capital TV and News Tak also claimed that the video of the man being tonsured was of 2019.
Hence, social media video is of a man being tonsured by Shiv Sena workers is of 2019 and not recent.
