NewsMobile is an independent news organisation founded by a team of award-winning journalists. We started off the organisation with our initial seed funds of the co-founders and have created a revenue stream through advertising, event and training that we conduct.
Our aim is to highlight stories that impact people and present credible and fact-checked stories to our readers. We present our stories without any biases and are fair in our approach to journalism. If ever a reader has brought to our notice a correction we have gone ahead and corrected the stories after verifying the claims.
Through our modest means our NM fact-checking team comprising of young journalists trained by Google news labs and our senior journalists, have followed the following methodology to fact check stories that appear in NM Fact Checker section.
How we Fact Check
- How important is the story, and can it create a potentially dangerous situation, the likelihood of a communal riot or can it harm a community, or can it create panic in communities.
- We track the source of the claim and then cross-check from multiple sources.
- We use Google and other tools to knock down and derail fake claims.
- We check with experts and other stakeholders who can help in uncovering the truth.
- A fact sheet is then prepared.
- And then a fact-based story is put out.
