A picture has surfaced on the internet in which a lady police officer can be seen.
The claim attached to the picture is that the woman in the picture is IPS officer Rupa Yadav who refused to accept the Modi government’s award because she’s unhappy about the statements made about Hemant Karkare by one of their MPs.
The caption of the picture read: “आईपीएस रुपा यादव जी ने मोदी सरकार के अवार्ड लेने से मना कर दिया है,बोली मेरा जमीर इजाज़त नही देता कि हमारे देश के शहीद हेमंत करकरे जिन्हें वीरता का सर्वोच्च सम्मान मिला है को भाजपा की नवनिर्वाचित सांसद जो आतंकवाद की आरोपी है वो करकरे जी को देशद्रोही और गद्दार और गालियां देती और और उसकी पार्टी यहां मुझे अवार्ड देकर ढोंग कर रही।”
(Translation: IPS Rupa Yadav has refused to accept the Modi government’s award, the quote does not permit my conscience, that our country’s martyr Hemant Karkare, who has received the highest honor of gallantry, is the BJP’s newly elected MP who is accused of terrorism, Karkare ji Desperate and traitor and abusive and his party is pretending to give me awards here.)
FACT CHECK
When the team of fact checkers at NewsMobile checked the post, we found that the claim is FAKE.
On putting the picture through Reverse Image Search, we found that the woman in the picture is IPS officer D Roopa Moudgil.
To check the claim, we scanned her social media handles and we found a tweet on her official Twitter handle.
Clarifying this– firstly there’s no such award for cops. We get President’s Police Medal. I have already got President’s Police medal for meritorious service. Pic is mine. But surname mentioned is incorrect. https://t.co/RhyNMNLQLv

We also found a news report by newswire PTI in which she is presented the President’s Police Medal in 2017 for exposing alleged jail irregularities.
The above information proves that the claim attached to the picture is FAKE.
