A picture post is doing the rounds on social media, according to which, the government has launched a new scheme, ‘Pradhanmantri Kaniya Ashirwaad Yojana’ under which the government is giving Rs 2,000 cash to every girlchild.
The text on the picture in Hindi read: “प्रधानमंत्री कन्या आशीर्वाद योजना: मोदी सरकार दे रही है सभी बेटियों को ₹२००० की नक़द राशी ।। आज ही करें आवेदन ।।”
(Translation: “Modi government is giving ₹ 2000 in cash to all daughters. Apply today”)

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found it to be false.
Since such schemes come under the umbrella of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, we scanned through their website and found no such scheme listed there.
On digging further, we came across a tweet by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) refuting the above claim.
