FACT CHECK
NewsMobile in its investigation found this story to be fake. When we verified the tweet from his official twitter account we found that this was a false claim.
Seeking an opportunity of mischief, the troublemakers forged Rahul’s tweet by replacing the word ‘actor’ with ‘cricketer’. When we observed it minutely we found that a different font was used to overwrite the word ‘cricketer’.
Since both the images carried the verified twitter blue tick and the difference was only of a single word, it was difficult to identify the real one.
The real tweet is as under:
I am sorry to hear about the passing of #SushantSinghRajput. A young & talented actor, gone too soon. My condolences to his family, friends & fans across the world.
— Rahul Gandhi (@RahulGandhi) June 14, 2020
This proves that the above claim is false and misleading.
