After cyclone Amphan battered the coastal districts of West Bengal and Odisha with heavy rains and storm that caused huge loss of lives and property, a video started doing the rounds on internet showing a strong wind blowing down trees and also an electric pole.
The caption of the post read: “Digha right now 😔 #CycloneAmphan heading towards bengal now..lets pray for all our safety 🙏”

The power of the wind and rain is indeed frightening! Just look at the fallen vehicle and the electric tower! #CycloneAmphan pic.twitter.com/RTUMciF3RW

Both the tweets are retweeted by Swedish activist, Greta Thunberg.
FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above video and found that the claim attached to it is FAKE.
The title of the video read, ‘Cyclone Fani’s violence in Puri. The wind speed is 180 km per hour.’. (Translated from Odiya)
With that information, we ran another Reverse Image Search along with the keywords, ‘Cyclone’ and ‘Fani’ and found an article by The Press Trust of India on The Times of India website dated May 3, 2019, featuring a photo of cyclone Fani.
The caption read, ‘A strong wind blows trees and an electric pole during Cyclone Fani in Bhubaneswar, Odisha | Reuters’
Hence, the above information proves that the video being circulated shows cyclone Fani in Bhubaneshwar last year, and is not at all connected to the recent Cyclone Amphan that hit West Bengal in 2020.
