A video of a woman being abducted has gone viral on social media claiming that the incident is from Uttar Pradesh.
The Facebook caption read, “उत्तर प्रदेश में दिनदहाड़े बेटियों को उठाया जा रहा है अंधभक्त अभी भी आंखों पर पट्टी चढ”
(Daughters in Uttar Pradesh are being abducted in daylight, still, devotees of the present government are blindfolded)

Also, the same video of the abduction has been circulating on social media with a different claim as well with some social media users claiming that the video is from Vikarabad district of Telangana.
The Facebook post read, “KIDNAPPING CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Woman #kidnapped in Vikarabad district of Telangana, Police took up investigation basing on CCTV footage Vikarabaad incident. #Telangana”

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found the claims to be false and misleading.
We got our first clue when we heard some people were talking in Kannada language in the video.
Then, with the help of keyword search, we found the same video on Asianet dated August 13, 2020, claiming that the incident was caught on CCTV wherein a girl was kidnapped in broad daylight in Kolar in Karnataka.

Further, a report in TOI also claimed that the terrifying abduction of a woman in Karnataka in broad daylight was caught on camera.

Moreover, we also found a Facebook Post of Telangana State Police claiming that the incident captured on CCTV footage is not from Telangana.

Hence, the viral CCTV footage of a woman being abducted is from Karnataka and not from Uttar Pradesh or Telangana. Don’t fall for false and misleading claims.
