A video of policemen beating a woman is going viral on social media claiming that the incident took place inside a police station.

FACT CHECK
When NewsMobile fact-checked the video, we found that the video is old.
We ran a Google search using keywords ‘woman thrashed by police’ and found several media reports on the incident.
As per the reports, dated May 2019, the incident took place in Faridabad. Two head constables of Haryana Police were suspended and three Special Police Officers terminated from service, the report stated.
According to the India Today article, the spokesman said the incident took place in October 2018 but was not reported to the police by the victim at that time.
The India Express article quoted Sube Singh, PRO of Faridabad Police as saying ” Adarsh Nagar police received information that a man and a woman were doing something wrong in the park. When police reached the spot, the man fled. The police personnel behaved indecently with the woman and hit her while questioning her. A video of this went viral today.”
This confirms that the incident did not take place inside the police station.

Haryana Police has ordered suspension of two Head Constables & terminated the services of three SPOs with immediate effect taking cognizance of a viral video of a woman being beaten by police personnel. An FIR has also been lodged against the accused in Faridabad.
