When NewsMobile fact-checked the video, we found that the video is old.

We ran a Google search using keywords ‘woman thrashed by police’ and found several media reports on the incident.

As per the reports, dated May 2019, the incident took place in Faridabad. Two head constables of Haryana Police were suspended and three Special Police Officers terminated from service, the report stated.

According to the India Today article, the spokesman said the incident took place in October 2018 but was not reported to the police by the victim at that time.

The India Express article quoted Sube Singh, PRO of Faridabad Police as saying ” Adarsh Nagar police received information that a man and a woman were doing something wrong in the park. When police reached the spot, the man fled. The police personnel behaved indecently with the woman and hit her while questioning her. A video of this went viral today.”

This confirms that the incident did not take place inside the police station.

We also found a tweet by newswire ANI.

On May 27, 2019, Additional DGP Law and Order (Haryana) Navdeep Virk had shared a Twitter thread regarding the incident.

This proves that the video in circulation is old and some of the information shared along with it is not true.
