A video of cops arresting people without wearing a mask has gone viral on social media. It is being claimed that this incident took place in Delhi.
The Facebook caption read, “Without mask 10 hours jail in Delhi and soon to be followed in Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and other States.”

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found it to be false and misleading.
We got our first clue when we saw the number plate of the police van and found it to be of Madhya Pradesh.

Taking the clue, we did a keyword search and found a news article in Patrika dated November 21, 2020, claiming that policemen in Madhya Pradesh took action against people found without a mask for violating COVID-19 protocol during the ongoing pandemic.

We also found a full video report on YouTube claiming it to from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.

Moreover, we also found another news report on YouTube by MPTAK dated November 22, 2020, claiming that the incident is from Madhya Pradesh.
The YouTube description read, “Madhya Pradesh के कई शहरों में तेजी से कोरोना अपने पैर पसार रहा है.. इसीलिए प्रशासन ने मास्क ना पहनने वालों के खिलाफ सख्त कदम उठाने शुरू कर दिए हैं.. Ujjain में बिना मास्क पहने घर से निकलने पर लोगों को जेल तक भेजा जा रहा है… दरअसल, Ujjain पुलिस, नगर निगम और जिला प्रशासन की एक जॉइंट टीम कोरोना की रोकथाम के लिए स्पेशल कैम्पेन चला रही है. इसके तहत मास्क नहीं लगाने वालों पर सख्त कार्रवाई करते हुए उन्हें 10 घंटे की खुली जेल में भेजा जा रहा है और उन्हें आगे से मास्क के बिना घर से बाहर न निकलने की शपथ भी दिलाई जा रही है .”
