As the people are protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in different parts of the country, a picture is doing rounds on social media claiming to be of detention camps in Assam.

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found that this picture is NOT from Assam.
In one of the Facebook posts, a user pointed out the fake news and posted a screenshot of an article featuring the same image.

We found the article on the website of El Tiempo, a daily in Colombia and the stock image was captioned ‘Prisoners in preventive La Romana’.

We also found a Facebook post dated July 23, 2019. ‘Look how the prisoners of the preventive jail of La Romana are. This is inhumane,” the caption read in Spanish.

This above information proves that this picture is old and is not from India.
