In the wake of protests over CAA and NRC, a picture of a banner is doing rounds on social media which is urging people to join the protest in Mumbai. The banner allegedly mentions the dress code for women- ‘Hijab or Burqa’.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found it to be false.
On putting the picture through Reverse Image Search and putting relevant keywords such as ‘CAA’, ‘NRC’, ‘NPR’, ‘Protest’, ‘YMCA Ground’ we came across the original poster which was tweeted by Aamir Edresy who is the Founder President of Association of Muslim Professionals.

It can be seen that there is no mention of the dress code in the original picture. The poster is about a women’s protest organised by Mumbai Citizens Forum against CAA, NRC and NPR to held at YMCA Ground, Agripada in Mumbai on January 17 at 6 pm.

In the above FAKE vs REAL collage, it is clear that the ‘Dress Code for women: Hijab or Burqa’ was added using a photo editing software to create a false narrative.
