Fact Check: The news of legendary cricketer Kapil Dev passing away is fake, don't believe it

A post is being shared on social media with a claim that legendary cricketer Kapil Dev has passed away.
The posts started making rounds after he underwent an emergency coronary angioplasty on October 24, 2020.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.
Firstly, we found a report by The Indian Express dated October 24, 2020, stating that Kapil Dev’s surgery was successful and his condition was stable.
“Currently, he is admitted in ICU and under close supervision,” the report quoted the hospital as saying. “Mr Kapil Dev is stable now and he is expected to get discharged in couple of days.”

Moreover, upon searching further, we found a video (archive) of Kapil Dev, tweeted by journalist Vikrant Gupta on October 29, 2020.
In the video, Kapil Dev can be heard that he is fine and feeling good. He also expressed his wish of meeting his ‘family of 83’ (his teammates).

We also found a report by The Indian Express dated November 03, 2020, in which Kapil Dev commented on Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s form in IPL 2020.
“MS Dhoni will find it impossible to perform if he plays every IPL: Kapil Dev, ” the headline of the article read.
Hence from the above information, it is clear that the news of former Indian Cricketer Kapil Dev passing away is false.
