A picture of a snow covered road is being shared on social media with a claim that the picture is of a street in Karachi, Pakistan.
“MA Jinnah Road Karachi Right Now, ” the post read.

Here’s the link to the above post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.
We ran the picture through Reverse Image Search and found that the same picture was shared by many users in February 2019. According to the captions, the picture was from Kabul in Afghanistan. See the posts here.

The same picture was shared by a freelance photographer from Afghanistan, Aman Sedaqat, on his Twitter handle on February 5, 2019, with the caption, “Winter season, kabul. #Winter #snowday #AmanSedaqat. “

Since he had also hash-tagged his own name in the caption, we thought that the picture might have been clicked by him, so, we scanned through his Facebook profile to find more information.
We found that he had shared the same picture on Facebook on Feb 5, 2019, with the caption, “Darullaman Road at winter season, kabul. #kabul #Winter #AmanSedaqat_Photography.”
The picture also had a watermark that read, ‘Aman Sedaqat Photography’.

He had also shared a similar picture of a Kabul street covered in snow on his photography page in 2017.

Taking a cue from the above, we then ran a keyword search using ‘Darulaman Road’ and found a picture of the same street on Google Earth.

From the above collage, it is evident that both the pictures are of the same location.
Hence, we can say that the picture in circulation is from Kabul, Afghanistan and NOT from Karachi, Pakistan.
