FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found the claim to be false.
We checked the official website of the Supreme Court of India and found that the motto still read ‘|| यतो धर्मस्ततो जय: ||’ ( ‘Yato Dharmastato Jai’).
We also found a blog post on the logo of the Apex court dated 2017 and found that even there the motto was ‘Yato Dharmastato Jai’. The blog also talked about how the logo of the Supreme Court of India is similar to that of the Indian National Emblem. However, instead of ‘Satyameva Jayate’ which is the Indian National Emblem’s Motto, ‘Yato Dharmastato Jai’ meaning, ‘where there is Dharma there is victory’ is the motto of the Supreme Court of india. It has always been this and has not been ‘changed’ recently as quoted in the claim above.
The Press Information Bureau also clarified that the above post is fake.
