Fact Check: Did Nepal shoot down HAL Rudra after it entered Nepal's territory? Here's the truth

A video of a plane crash is doing rounds on social media with a claim that Nepal shot down India’s HAL Rudra when it entered Nepal’s territory to conduct an airstrike.
“Today, Indian airforces had crossed the border to conduct airstrikes on the Nepal territories. India contacted an airstrike in Belahiya. In the resulting, we’ve shot down one Indian HAL Rudra and captured one Indian pilot. Now We’ll not return pilot to india, ” the caption read.


FACT CHECK 
NewsMobile fact-checked the video and found that the claim is false as the video in question is old.
On extracting the keyframes of the video and putting them through Reverse Image Search, we found the same video on the YouTube channel of The Telegraph, dated October 17, 2012.
“Syrian rebels shoot down helicopter,” the video title read.

Taking a cue from the above information, we ran a search using relevant keywords and found a report by The Guardian dated October 17, 2012.

Hence, we can conclude that it is an old video from Syria and has no connection with India or Nepal.
