A picture of Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan sporting a saffron headscarf (usually worn by members of the Sikh community) and holding a sword is being shared on social media with a claim that he also attended the ongoing farmers’ protest.
Here’s the link to the above post.
The same post was shared extensively on Facebook.
The links are available here, here, here, here, here and here.
NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.
A simple Reverse Image Search led us to an article by Daily Sikh Updates from 2018, featuring the same image.
“Hrithikh Roshan Inspired by Sikhism After Attending Gurpurab Celebrations in Mumbai,” the headline read. (The spelling of Hrithik in the headline was incorrect)
Taking a cue from this, we ran a keyword search and found that the video of the event was also uploaded on YouTube by many Bollywood centric channels in January 2018.
“Hrithik Roshan at Shri Guru Gobind Singh 351 Birth Anniversary Juhu (Mumbai) Jan 2018,” the title of another similar video uploaded in 2018 read.
However, the report dated December 7, 2020, did not mention Hrithik Roshan’s name.
Other Reports can be seen here and here.
Hence, based on the above fact-check, we can conclude that the claim is false and misleading.
