An adorable picture of a cat is being shared on social media with a claim that he is the smallest cat in the world.
“Mr pebbles may look like a kitten, but he is actually 2-year-old. The tiny cat got its size from genetic defect that stunts growth. Adjust 6.1-inch (15.5cm) high and 19.2-inch (49 cm) long, he holds certification from the Guinness Book of World record as the world’s smallest cat, ” the test on the post read.

FACT CHECK
When we fact-checked the post, we found it be fake.
We started our investigation by checking the official website of Guinness World Records.
According to the site, the smallest cat on record was a male blue point Himalayan-Persian, named Tinker Toy that measured only 7 cm (2.75 in) tall and 19 cm (7.5 in) long when full grown (aged 2.5 years). However, they do not have any picture of the cat on their site.
When we put the image through Reverse Image Search, we found that this picture was photoshopped as a part of a contest on the website Worth1000.com.
The photo was submitted under the category ‘Sickening Cute’  by the artist TBA and won the first prize. “It’s just the tiniest cutesy wittle bitty baby kitty-witty you just want to give it kisses but you can’t because it is so adorably fragile, ” the description of the picture read.

This proves that the photo is Fake and Mr Pebbles is not the smallest cat in the world.
