FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post and found it to be fake.
While scanning through the official website and social media accounts of the Finnish Government for the announcement, we found their official tweet, dated Jan 7, 2020, denying the viral claim.
In the Finnish Government´s program, there is no mention about a 4-day week. The issue is not on the Finnish Government’s agenda. PM @marinsanna envisioned idea briefly in a panel discussion last August while she was the Minister of Transport, and there hasn’t been any recent activity, ” the official statement read.

In reality, the idea was envisioned by 34-year-old Marin and she shared it when she attended a panel discussion at the Social Democratic Party’s 120-year anniversary in the city of Turku in August 2019.
“Efforts must continue to be made to improve labor productivity and the benefits to the average person. Shorter working hours can and should be discussed. A 4-day week or a 6-hour day with a decent wage maybe a utopia today, but maybe true in the future, ” her tweet from August 2019 read.

The above information proves that the viral post is false and no such plan has been introduced in Finland.
