After cricketer Suresh Raina pulled out of the upcoming 2020 edition of IPL, a claim has surfaced on the internet that CSK batsman has tested positive for coronavirus.

The text with Raina’s picture read: “BREAKING: Suresh Raina tested positive for COVID-19”

The news surfaced in the backdrop of two players of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) testing  positive for COVID-19 (Deepak Chahar being one of them) ahead of IPL 2020 which is scheduled to start from September 19, 2020, in UAE.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact checked the above claim and found it to be false.
Firstly, there has been no official confirmation either from IPL or from BCCL regarding Raina being testing positive for COVID-19.
Moreover, Suresh Raina returned to India on Saturday citing personal reasons.

Moreover, if he had tested positive for coronavirus, he wouldn’t have been allowed to travel back to India as the aviation SOP doesn’t allow any COVID-19 positive passenger to travel.
Hence, the above information establishes that the claim about Suresh Raina testing positive for COVID-19 is FAKE.
