Fact Check: Old suicide incident from UP misleadingly linked to lockdown

Yet another picture has been doing the rounds on the social media with a claim that a mother in Uttar Pradesh poisoned her daughters and then committed suicide because of poverty.
The post also suggests that the family was unable to cope with the starvation during the lockdown, which forced the mother to take such a horrific step.

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found it to be misleading.
On putting the picture through Reverse Image Search, we found the same picture in an article dated February 2, 2020.
According to the report, the incident took place in UP’s Fatehpur. A  report published by Patrika states that the woman took this frightening step after a fight with her husband.

Another report identified the deceased as Shyama Devi(40), her daughters Pinky (20), Priyanka (15), Varsha (13) and Ruby(9).
Moreover, The lockdown in India was announced by PM Modi on March 24.
This proves that the above picture is not related to the COVID-19 lockdown. Hence, the claim is false.
