Fact Check: Is the man in this picture Udaya Chamar, an erstwhile Nawab of Chhatari? Here’s the truth

A historical picture of a man has gone viral all over the social media with claims that it is of the Nawab of Chhatari ( Uttar Pradesh, India), by the name Udaya Chamar, who was angry with the wrong policies of the British and killed hundreds of Britishers.
Facebook caption read, “#उदैया_चमार_साहब अंग्रेजों के खिलाफ जंग का ऐलान 1804 में ही कर दिया था।छतारी के नवाब के योद्धा ऊदैयाचमार ने अंग्रेजों की गुलामी से खफा होकर सैकड़ों अंग्रेजों को मौत के घाट उतार दिया।इनकी वीरता के चर्चे आजभी अलीगढ के आस -पास के क्षेत्रो में कहे सुने जाते है।”

NewsMobile fact-checked the above picture and found that the claim attached to the picture is false.
By searching through Reverse Image Search we found this picture on wikivisually.com with claims that the man in the above Facebook post is Jalia Kaibarta, a fisherman from East Bengal from 1960.

When we went through the references, we found that the information is from a book titled ‘Building a Nation’. Further, we found some more information about Jalia Kaibarta on page number-118 of the book that mentions the place where Kaibarta belongs to. We found that he is from Eastern parts of India and has no relation with Chhatari(A town in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, India).

On digging further, we found this picture in an article on eleventhcolumn.com dated October 16, 2018, by Suraj Gogoi.

We further investigated this website on urlscan.io and debunked the false information that was spread all over social media via the unverified website. We found that this is a new website that was created on June 30, 2020, and has been operational only for the past 3 months. It is located in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. This clearly means that the information about Jalia Kaibarta is FALSE.
Hence, the above data clarifies that the information about Jalia Kaibarta on the bahujandiaryofficial.blogspot.com website and social media is false.
