After human trials of the Corononavirus were carried out at the University of Oxford on April 24, 2020, a picture post started doing the rounds on different social media platforms claiming that the first volunteer, Elisa Granato, died two days after the trial.
The caption of the post read: “First Volunteer In UK Coronavirus Vaccine Trial, Elisa Granato, Dies. Elisa Granato, the first volunteer who availed herself in Oxford for a jab in the first Europe human trial of a vaccine to protect against the coronavirus pandemic has died. She died two days after the vaccine was administered, authorities have said and added that an investigation into the cause of the death has been initiated.”
FACT CHECK
When NewsMobile did a fact check of the viral posts, we found that the claim is fake.
When we ran a simple Google search using some keywords like ‘Elisa Granato’, ‘vaccine’ and ‘died’, we came across multiple reports that confirmed that the microbiologist is ‘doing fine’ after the vaccine injection.
We also found a tweet by BBC’s medical correspondent, Fergus Walsh, who posted a video of Dr Elisa Granato on April 26, 2020, three days after the trial.
….and here is Dr Elisa Granato in person. Alive and well pic.twitter.com/Csw1WqmBQa

In a short 17 second video, she assures that she’s doing well.
In conclusion, the above information proves that the claim is FAKE as Dr Elisa Granato is alive.
