A picture of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is doing rounds on social media claiming that he is putting Nimbu-Mirchi (lemon and chilli) on the border. The post claims that bullets from another country cannot enter our country and Defence Minister has been compared to Lord Hanuman and how he helped Karn in Mahabharata.

The post also claims that one day these superstitions will ruin our country.

(English Translation: Now lime and chilli have been hung on the border. Now if any bullet will come from the cross of the border, it will be absorbed in lemon and chilli, just like in the war of Mahabharat, Lord Hanuman took all the arrows sents by Karna. According to me, all the soldiers should also be sent home. How many wise and great people of the country have wanted to end these pageantries, but some just continue doing it.  They want to throw the whole country into the ditch of superstition. )

On putting the picture through Google Reverse Image Search, we found the original picture of the Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh in an article by Outlook India dated October 9, 2019.

The picture caption read, “Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh writes onto a Rafale jet fighter as a ritual gesture during a handover ceremony at the Dassault Aviation plant in Merignac, near Bordeaux, southwestern France.”

Further, we found this picture in another article on The Siasat Daily, dated October 9, 2019, claiming that Rajnath Singh performs Shastra Puja in Paris after receiving first Rafael Fighter Jet.
