As tensions between India and China continue to simmer following the violent Galwan Valley clashes in June which led to heavy casualties on both sides including 20 soldiers of the Indian Army, multiple posts related to India and China have been doing rounds on social media, many of which are misleading and fake.
An article related to business tycoon Ratan Tata has now resurfaced on Facebook claiming that Tata has signed a deal with US-based Boeing for Chinook Helicopter and Apache Helicopter to fight against China.
Also, the post carries a picture of Ratan Tata in what is very close to battle gear.
The title Read, “अभी-अभी: चीन की बर्बादी का सामान लेकर बॉर्डर पहुचेर तनटाटा, बोले – चीन को नक्शे से मिटादूंगा”
(English Translation, “Just now: Ratan Tata has reached the border with equipment that can be used against China, said – will erase China from the map”)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobie fact-checked the above post and found it to be misleading.
On putting the headline(अभी-अभी: चीन की बर्बादी का सामान लेकर बॉर्डर पहुचे रतन टाटा, बोले – चीन को नक्शेसे मिटादूंगा) as keywords, we found the exact same news article on Ujjawalprabhat dated March 18, 2018, claiming that Tata Group has signed a deal with US-based Boeing for strengthening our country’s defence apparatus to fight China.

Another similar article found on Timespatrika24.blogs.com dated August 13, 2017, with the same claims.

We found that Tata Advanced Systems has joined hands with Lockheed Martin to produce F-16 Block 70 in India as per Tata Group website post dated June 19, 2017.

Subsequently, Tata Boeing Aerospace first Apache Helicopter fuselage was delivered on June 1, 2018

Further, we found the picture through Yandex Reverse Image search on deviantart.com posted on February 26, 2014.

On the same site when we went to the About Us section we found that DeviantArt is the largest online social network for artists and art enthusiasts, and a platform for emerging and established artists to exhibit, promote, and share their works with an enthusiastic, art-centric community.

On surfing further, when we used the keywords ‘Ratan Tata Pilot’ and we found the real picture on Economic Times posted on December 28, 2019.

However, Ratan Tata, a trained pilot himself, was flying an American aircraft and it had nothing to do with India’s tussle with China.

In conclusion, we found through our detailed Fact Check that the news article is old and the picture used in the article is a morphed picture of Ratan Tata. Don’t fall for misleading content on Facebook that claims the Tata group is ready to fight a war against the Chinese.
