Indian National Congress has, on their official Twitter handle, shared a compilation of two videos with a claim that the Bharatiya Janata Party has turned its back on the starving countrymen of India, during the Coronavirus outbreak, whereas, INC has turned its offices into ‘kitchens’ for the people in this hour of crisis.
The caption of the video reads, “भाजपा ने कोरोना संकट के दौरान खाने के लिए तरसते गरीब देशवासियों से मुँह मोड़ लिया, जबकि कांग्रेस ने संकट की इस घड़ी में देशवासियों के लिए अपने कार्यालयों को “रसोई” बना दिया।
(Translation-The BJP turned its back on the poor countrymen craving for food during the Corona crisis, while the Congress made its offices “kitchens” for the countrymen in this hour of crisis.)

The video has been shared by other users as well.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found that the video on the left is old.
When we cropped the video and extracted the keyframes to put them through Reverse Image Search, we found that the clip of the man eating off a railway track is taken from a video published on YouTube dated August 21, 2019.
The title of the video reads, ‘Please Don’t Waste Your Food 🙏🙏 || Really Heart Touching ||😔😔’.

Hence, it proves that the video in question is old and was shot before the Coronavirus pandemic broke out.
Further, we checked that video in which volunteers are serving food to people and found the video on ANI’s newswire official YouTube channel dated March 20, 2020.
The title of the video read, ‘Congress workers set up kitchen to feed needy in Delhi’.

The description of the video reads, ‘New Delhi, Mar 31 (ANI): Congress workers started a kitchen to feed needy in Delhi amid coronavirus outbreak. All necessary precautions were taken by the workers during the food distribution process. Congress workers made sure social distance was maintained among people while collecting food. The weaker section of society is facing major hardships during the nationwide lockdown.’
Hence, the above information proves that while the video of Congress volunteers serving food to the needy was related to COVID-19 but the other video of the person eating waste food is old and unrelated.
