Amid the Coronavirus outbreak, a video is widely being shared online in which a person can be seen jumping off a building. It has been claimed that the person who jumped off was suffering from COVID-19.
The caption with the video in Hindi read: “न्यूयॉर्क में कोरोना के मरीज़ ने फ्लैट से कूदकर की आत्महत्या…….
ये तस्वीर आपको हिला कर रख देगी, न्यूयॉर्क में Corona से जूझ रहे एक शख्स ने अपने फ्लैट से कूद कर आत्महत्या कर ली, अमेरिका के 1 लाख कोरोना मामलों में 46 हज़ार अकेले न्यूयॉर्क के हैं। अकेले इस शहर में 606 लोगों की मौत हो चुकी है।”

NewsMoble fact-checked the above video and found that the claim attached to the video is FAKE.
We extracted the keyframes of the video and on putting them through Reverse Image Search, we came across several Facebook posts and news reports which featured the same video.
According to one such post dated August 11, 2015, a pregnant Ghanian woman committed suicide by jumping off the building after she found that her husband was cheating on her with her mother.
On other further investigation, we came across an article by Daily Mail dated August 12, 2015, which described that same incident.
In conclusion, the above information establishes that the viral video is old and it has no connection with COVID-19.
